Ray, your father sounds like an amazing person. What an example of a loving husband and father. I’m so sorry for your loss.

    Ray,

My warmest sympathies to you and a gratitude of thanks to the man who created the environment wherein his son would someday moderate such an assorted community as ourselves with the highest patience, enlightenment and love.

I love the message of the following song, particularly as it relates to my ancestral heritage. It describes my parents’ and grandparents’ relationships, as well as what I have with my wife, and it is a big part of my hope for my children.

I also am thankful I was raised to be able to say:

    Quote:

“Forever’s in my heart and in my blood.”

Sorry to hear that Ray. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Hope you’re able take the time out and find a good balance of commemorating/celebrating the memories while also mourning his passing.

Ray, what a wonderful life. What did they do on as a missionary couple in South Carolina? Was it a good experience for them?

They served a standard mission, which was amazing given their finances and my mother’s condition. I truly see that experience as miraculous.

What a wonderful day it has been as we honored and then buried my dad.

My father was told in a blessing a while ago that he would pass away when it was convenient for his family. Five of his six living siblings were able to gather today, from halfway across the country, along with six of his eight children – and some nieces and nephews, as well. In more than one case, this weekend was the only time attendance would have been possible.

It’s times like this when, no matter the things at which my mind gnaws continually, my heart can say, truly, God has been good to our family.

My favorite thing about helping at a funeral is seeing the family together. It’s beautiful.
