(Exactly, we disagree, but we have no personal gripe with each other! Peace Brother!)
When Halloween’s on, I either go out or pretend not to be in. I used to
get kids thumping on my door, and I was unprepared. I feel uncomfortable
about giving children I don’t know candy – it’s not something I’d
normally do. It can get you arrested in some places! But yes, they’ve
pulled a few stunts – chucking eggs at my house for one. (I have white
walls so they show up well) I’ve known people whose windows have been smashed.
But that’s not church.
As a small child I hated Halloween. Apple ducking was fun perhaps.
Didn’t really go for dressing up. But I found the whole thing unsettling
and even creepy. (Having seen many horror films since, I’d have to
laugh at some of the stuff I used to be scared of. I’ve never forgiven
myself for showing a young relative of mine Nightmare on Elm Street many
moons ago but that’s another story.)
