I fear being reprehended by my leaders, which is why I stay quiet with them for the most part. I tried talking to my bishop 9 months ago when all of this first started and I swear “the Spirit” told me to shut my mouth and not talk anymore to him. Months later I can see the wisdom in that. I am not in a good enough place to feel rejected by “leaders” or members of my ward.

that has been a consistent theme I have noticed in people who deal with their faith crisis (FC) wisely. Remember, if you keep your mouth shut, you can always return to full activity if you want. But if you broadcast doubts, or appear to be a renegade, Church leaders will make you jump through hoops in order to get back into the mainstream again. We have seen that in posts here over and over and over again.

And although you may feel you are in a Faith Crisis (FC) now, who knows what life will deliver you that could change your perspective in the future.

For example, I had a series of events that hit me all at once a few weeks ago. It has totally altered my view of the world, where I should put my time, and what kind of a family leader I want to be. Who knows when other life experiences will tip the balance of my commitment back to being a church-person again….and the same applies to everyone here.

You’ve received some really good advice so I’ll be my usual self and not be wordy.

My faith crisis did not cause my depression but it contributed to it.

I don’t think having an LDS counselor when a faith crisis is part of what you are receiving counseling for is a great idea unless that counselor is able to keep his church out of the office. I live in Idaho Falls, in the Mormon Corridor. My counselor is with the VA and is not LDS. She does have a lot of LDS clients, as you can guess. She sees a lot of church related problems with the vets she counsels.
