My name is Bill Lee…over at MA&D I am Pa Pa, as I am here. I have been a member of the church for 30+ years. Most of that time has been spent teaching in Gospel Doctrine, Gospel Essentials and Priesthood. I am active on a couple of boards and stumbled into this one via a link from another website. I am the father of four and have five grandchildren. I have been struggling with a number of things as of late, health being the primary one. I live near Atlanta, GA and teach part time at a local College. Lately my faith in God is strong, my faith in me is wavering. So I am going to take a look around and see what happens.

Hi. I look over at MADB once in a great while. That site could have been the death of me, spiritually. Staylds is great. It is great here because you don’t have to explain yourself and know all of the answers and defend your knowledge to the death.Welcome to your journey!

Welcome PaPa! I live in the Atlanta area too. We actually have a very cool collection of Mormon misfits and “apostates” here in Atlanta that all met through various forums and blogs. We get together every few months at someone’s home for tasty food and spirited discussions. You totally have to join us some time! Hehe, actually a thought just occurred to me. Have we met at one of these events? Your name sounds familiar. Either way … welcome aboard!

Yes, welcome. I have no idea who you are, and I live far from Atlanta, so I can’t invite you over for herbal tea and crumpets like valoel can, but . . . ;)

Welcome Pa Pa, this place is all about sharing the struggle, not making it harder so I hope that we can do some growing together.

This sense of “wavering” can be so scary and it really helps to talk about it and explore what it really means for you. I will begin to sound like a broken record or a salesman but if you haven’t explored James Fowler yet I think that would be useful because it may help you put your struggle into the context of the full spiritual journey. This sense of wavering may well be a good sign, may be an indicator that you need to move on in your spiritual life to explore what things mean to you rather than simply accepting what you have always been told is the right thing to think.

Again welcome, I too am a bit remiss in all the alphabetical soup of the internet, what does MA&D stand for?

Thank you HiJolly I appreciate the help it took me the longest time to decide that in context DH meant “dear husband” and DW meant “dear wife” or did I get that one wrong too?

Keeping busy, as usual. My 16-y.o. son got his patriarchal blessing yesterday, and it was very nice. The Patriarch was nervous as heck at first (who wouldn’t be) but about 10 minutes into the blessing he really hit his stride. Wow. My wife said she felt the Savior there but I missed that part.

Then we came home & fed the Elders (a rare happening here in Utah) and then my son came over with his wife & baby, the teens took off for a youth fireside, and then my Home Teachers showed up. Had a busy day!

Glad to have you here. Glad to hear your faith in God is strong. Sorry to hear your faith in yourself is wavering, but I certainly understand how that goes.

I have felt that way, but try to tell myself that all the possible faith in God cannot take care of me without me believing I can do it with God’s help. You gotta know you’re good enough, just as you are, and as you will become.

Welcome to the site and I look forward to reading your comments.
