Thanks Brian and Rachel for addressing my comment. I can see that it has gone completely away from the subject of this thread (my bad) so I hope this will end the distraction.

What I was really wondering from my initial comment is how the front site (StayLDS.com) will frame its purpose. I know the subtitle “Helping struggling LDS members stay IN the church” is clear and wonderful. I was simply wondering what additional details may be given about the purpose and approach that will help visitors frame a first impression of StayLDS. That’s all. Personally I would love to see something like Bushman’s article from his summer conference this year. Something that helps everyone understand that the ‘old’ approaches common in the Church do not work for people in our situation. I love that a faithful such as Bushman is saying that. I simply had the thought that StayLDS might be the most effective if concerned family members could gain confidence in the purpose and method by seeing (almost an endorsement?) if possible that StayLDS IS what their troubled family member NEEDS to build a new and positive relationship with the church.

That’s all, it was a thought around how a portion of the stated purpose on the main site may be framed. Nothing more. I agree you can’t divide the purpose and targeted audience. Again, it came from my wife’s checking out what I was doing on the web. I simply wish she could have seen something that she felt better about. That’s it. My comment wasn’t really about the other side getting the support they may need.

Again, sorry for the derail. I don’t have any agenda that I need to push.

    Orson,

Bushman’s essay or excerpts would be an ideal intro to the site. We should get his permission, certainly.
