    Welcome to this forum Skippy!

I too would like to understand more about your life, experiences & circumstances.

This is a good place to discuss any topic related to the gospel & our own life situations.

    Mike from Milton.

I served my mission in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission – 1999-2001. Currently separated from my wife & kids, but working towards reconciliation. So yeah, I’m not living the “church model” of success so far in my life.

I feel for you man, life has a habit of throwing us curve balls. The quotes from my signature line help me to come to grips with this.

    Quote:

“It is not so much the pain and suffering of life which crushes the individual as it is its meaninglessness and hopelessness.” C. A. Elwood

I found this quote in a book that I was reading by Bro. Lowell Bennion. Life can include some extraordinary pain and suffering without any obvious meaning or purpose.

    Quote:

“It is not the function of religion to answer all the questions about God’s moral government of the universe, but to give one courage, through faith, to go on in the face of questions he never finds the answer to in his present status.” TPC: Harold B. Lee 223

This second quote for me is somewhat of an answer to individual crushing hopelessness. Religion (according to my understanding of HBL’s comment) does not hold all the answers but does provide comfort, hope, courage, and faith.

Despite issues that chafe me in the church (unanswered questions and possibly unknowable answers), I hold on to that hope and I often find sufficient to proclaim, “It is enough, Lord, enough for today!”

I joined the Chruch about 1979 as a married adult with one kid. Does that help you feel younger?
