It has been proposed that we create a humor section. All in favor manifest it? Aboslutely, since I’m already on record. Sounds good. Just to throw this out though, are we diluting the conversation too much if we add too many forum sections? There is usually a sweet spot for each community, it’s different for each.
Good point. How about just a humor thread in the “General Discussion” section? In other forums I’ve been on they divide up the forums. This helps to keep it cohesive. Maybe something like this: Section: Church
Forum: Doctrinal
Forum: History
Forum: Organizational
Section: General
Forum: Humor
Forum: General discussions
Forum: Book Reviews
Forum: Introductions
Section: Spiritual
Forum: Support
Forum: Spirituality
I’m not necessarily selling this particular break out, but I’m suggesting that if we add new forums we can logically group the various forums into sections. phpBB allows nicely for this by allowing for forums and sub-forums. I have my own little forum that I have used in the past to talk with a few friends about political issues. You can look at it here:

I was out for 10 days, and the schedule is just empty. I’m just back in town, trying to catch up at work, and I have had to on-the-fly put up 2 posts (one yesterday from a draft I had in pipe from several months ago that has led to a transgender dialog, one today under Batman). Not saying that as in “poor me” – just a plea for help. Can any of you pull a draft of something out or reprint from elsewhere or just throw up a poll in one of the open spots? I’m afraid it’s about to become HawkGrrrl Matters, and nobody wants that! I also can’t get the poll feature to work for me from work anymore (could be an internet explorer issue as has been the case previously). Back to StayLDS:
As to a humor section, I like the idea of a humor section. Humor is one of the main coping mechanisms I have in dealing with my issues over time at church, and sometimes people just get so bogged down in taking things sooo seriously, including themselves. So, I too fear too many boards, but this could be a good one.
Hey, someone could even do a post about StayLDS, like we have done about FacesEast and The Mormon Therapist in the past. Just a thought to kill two birds with one stone.

You are a gentleman and a scholar! I really appreciate it! I will also get you added to the calendar (it’s a google doc) if you have a gmail account – you can pm or email me with that. I’ll look into this. Do you use IE solely, or do you occassionally use Firefox?[/quote]At work, I’m restricted to IE. At home I usually do Firefox (per John and Clay’s recommendations). I haven’t tried it from home, but I assume it will work on Firefox. I also tried on my BB, but adding a poll to a post on the BB was just too complex a task for the BB. I don’t think the option is able to be used there.
Sorry, late to the discussion here. What about Humor being combined with other social/personal topics? Not sure what to call it. Faces East has a “just stuff” another forum I know has a “chit-chat” section. What about calling it something more general and socially oriented – to include discussions on good movies etc.? We would probably also change the subtitle in “General” to say church related topics that don’t fit neatly into the other categories.

Yes, I already have access to the google doc. I will probably just post my personal story, if that’s okay. I have a really really long version (like 13 pages) that I’ll shorten down for a post (I have been planning to do this anyway, this just speeds it up a bit).Okay, so we kinda got sidetracked on this post, and I’m not sure we came to a conclusion. Should I add a Humor section (or does someone else want to) or are we not in favor of it? Do we want to break up the forums into subforums for more organization, or just add it as one more forum in a flat list as it is now?
