I lived in a ward once that tried to have two GD classes: one for the orthodox and one for the heterodox. It was great for about two months, then it started to divide the ward worse than previously – mostly because the heterodox members started belittling and being condescending toward the orthodox members. It didn’t soften the tone of GD and help build Zion; rather, it just created two classes that were more extreme than the former class and caused even further division.

I learned a great lesson from that experience. Respecting differences of opinion together, in a diverse setting, is the ideal – not isolating each different opinion.

Interesting. I worry that the ramping up of excommunication and those leaving that the church will lose a bit of a balance and become more TBM

Thanks, everyone. If I decide to pursue anything I’ll return and report. I’m feeling very restless. It might be because I haven’t been in 2nd and 3rd hour on a regular basis for a year now because of my calling. I don’t get to comment, or have the moderating influence of fellow members on my ideas. I’m a little too alone with my thoughts. I thought the essays would make more of an impression than they have, that there would be discussions going on all about me. Instead, all’s quiet here.

I have been in 2nd and 3rd hour on a regular basis and could say the same. 😆
