GuestI’m a new guy here. I’m fairly strong in my beliefs in this Gospel. I was directed to this site by someone I met on my mission, I fell in love with the question, “What is real?” and it has deterred me and bouyed me up when I searched for answers. Real is relative to what matters to you, which you can never be completely sure of, but I guess if you can stay on your toes, look for light, truth, and joy, then you aren’t on the wrong path. I feel like questions do always have answers, and discomfort can always be followed by comfort, but it’s more important to ask the right questions than it is for the questions you have to be answered. You’ve gotta control you. You’ve gotta make life good. You’ve gotta trust in God, whom is the only one our trust is completely safe in. Love, laughter(yes, laughter, I think, is a good thing), and fun. God intends for you to enjoy life, not dutifully and unwantingly and unworthily(because happiness is a qulification for Celestial Glory) trudging through a list of things you need to do. I feel like I am wanted and useful here, not because I need to be or even want to be, but because I can be.

Love,
J -Leezy

GuestWelcome to the site. Quote:“I feel like questions do always have answers”
but don’t you find that those answers are sometimes contradictory?
Quote:happiness is a qualification for Celestial Glory
I don’t think I agree with this, at least not without caveats. While “men are that they might have joy,” we also know from Isaiah that Jesus was “a man of sorrows.” I think as Mormons we are (as a people) prone to superficial happiness that masks deep depression. To say that we have to be happy to qualify for the CK also doesn’t square with the very real medical reasons that people can be depressed. As it says in Proverbs: “As he that snatcheth away a blanket in winter, so is he that singeth songs to one that hath a heavy heart.” (I might have garbled that a smidge, but that’s the gist of it).

GuestWelcome! I’ve thought a bit about your post this morning, and look forward to hearing your stories. I think the “introductions” forum gives us an opportunity to get to know one another, to share our personal experience, strength, and hope as we navigate the path of staying LDS.
Personally, I’d like to hear more about you and where you are in your path. You can find
as well. And I try to be clear onmy introduction here .what I believeI think you raise a good point about ‘reality’, which may have many dimensions. Feel free to open a topic on ‘reality’ in the General Discussion forum.
Coming back to you, personally, i wonder what you mean by

this kind of raises a question to me as to whether you see yourself as teacher, student, or peer as you come to a board like this.March 15, 2012 at 2:31 pm #246403Anonymous

GuestHi, live4real, thanks for joining the conversations and sharing your intro. Great to meet you.

Have there been things you’ve experienced that help you feel confident you can rely on God? I think you’ll find with some others posting on this site some doubt, sometimes doubting if we can know God really is there. But as you say, “Real is relative to what matters to you”…it does make for different viewpoints and experiences, which differ from person to person, and sharing with each other our experiences is a good way to broaden our horizons.Welcome. I look forward to learning from your posts.

Lots of beautiful perspectives of truth!🙂 I also see truth & what is real as what matters to you, or what has influence.
Paul Tillich said God is that which we worship, our “ultimate concern.”
I also think laughter is AWESOME… enthusiasm is the light of God in us shining through!
