Hi, posted a few comments, thought I should introduce myself. I’m 28, born and raised Mormon, descendant of Mormon pioneers and distantly related, ironically, to Missouri’s old Governor Boggs (of ‘extermination order’ fame). Whole family is LDS, though I was the only one to remain active and study through the years. I never went on a mission due to many problems I had with the church (my childhood best friend was black), and, over time, slowly felt uncomfortable in church. It’s been a few years since I attended. I study different religions, read a lot (BA in english), and have always kept a mental foot in the church. I recently picked up my studies on church history, got into the great MormonStories podcasts, and found this site and others.

I don’t have a testimony in the LDS sense, though I have plenty of faith in God, and I try to live Christ-like, but the more I look into the church the more distant I feel from it. My feelings about Mormonism have become rather complicated, and I don’t take it lightly. Not really trying to be saved here, I’m just looking for good discussions. Thanks for having me.

Sorry, but that made me chuckle. I don’t think any of us are trying to be saved here – at least not in the classic Christian sense. (Honestly, I’m not sure what that would mean in the “classic Mormon sense”.) :)

Anyway, welcome. It’s good to have you here.
