I don’t think heaven would be heaven without agency. The people there would choose to do right, not be compelled to do so.

Spot on, macalla. Did I already quote Swedenborg?

    Quote:

But in the heavens there is no other government than the government of mutual love, and the government of mutual love is heavenly government.

More here (He gets pretty esoteric and technical. Eyes Glazing Over alert!): “213. As heaven is divided into societies, and the larger societies consist of some hundreds of thousands of angels (n. 50), and all within a society, although in like good, are not in like wisdom (n. 43), it must needs follow that governments exist there, since order must be observed, and all things of order must be guarded. But the governments in the heavens differ; they are of one sort in societies that constitute the Lord’s celestial kingdom, and of another sort in the societies that constitute His spiritual kingdom; they differ also in accordance with the functions of the several societies. Nevertheless, no other government than the government of mutual love is possible in the heavens, and the government of mutual love is heavenly government.”

If Heaven is run like the church I’ll go somewhere else thank you.

I have this lovely vision of heaven where all the inhabitants will be doing just the right things at the right time so there will be no need for rules, structure or handbooks. We will live in harmony.

I’m not an idealist, not one bit!!! LOL

I agree. For me heaven isn’t a place, its who your with.

    Just a thought to consider:

One of the reasons I really like the Mormon view of post-mortal life is that even the wicked get to live in that kind of heaven – being with people who are similar to you under “stewardship” of a God. In that sense, the Telestial Kingdom actually is a heavenly place.

That’s such a more loving, gracious plan than what is taught in the rest of Christianity.

Agreed, also the mercy of baptism for the Dead is a strong point, and the fact that the PoS answer so many questions that are question marks in other religions.
