GuestOr Morohnye? Shouldn’t we say these names as Neefee/Nefee and Moronee? Or Laman and Laban as written, not Layman, and Layban?
And what about all the other BoM names which seem to have been twisted into English pronounciation? Mosiah has been changed to match Isaiah, but isn’t Moseeah better?

Our Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking friends use the proper pronunciation, and since they form a plurality in the church, I think we can safely say that ‘we’ say the names correctly.

GuestRight who’s up for a campaign to pronounce patriarch and Melchizedek with the proper velar fricative? Anyone?

Well … it does make me cringe whenever someone pronounces it their “pay-tree-article” blessing.

GuestHonestly, I’m blowing that tumbleweed across the screen.
This is one of those questions where my answer is, “I don’t care.” I’ve lived near Lima (pronounced Laimuh) and Versailles (pronounced Versales) and New Madrid (pronounced New Maaadrid – short vowel sound) – so how we pronounce BofM names doens’t faze me at all.
