I read this book recently. I thought it was a good synthesis of good leadership in practice. Nothing really new, but good examples of how to implement principles such as these:
1. The need for regular communication from the top leadership.
2. The need for giving people the tools and training they needed to do their job well.
3. The positive benefits of removing drugery from jobs so your target group can focus on expanding their skills and taking on new projects.
4. How listening to the people under you can really help generate solid ideas for improving your organization.
5. The need to communicate your vision in a simple, quotable way.
6. The need to look at your organization through the eyes of the front-line people.
And so on….I recommend it as an interesting book for someone who would like to see good leadership skills in practice. The author, Michael Abrashoff, was a captain of a ship and apparently hit top metrics through his leadership style that used these principles. I found it interesting because it showed how business principles can help navy seamen perform well in a military context. A fresh look at leadership and management.
The title has a swear word in it, not listed in the subject line.
