Ray- Just wondering if you would share with us what you learn about what people think of Bruce. I am definitely not in favor of kicking Bruce out. Bruce has been kind, honest, and not at all pushy, and I appreciate his viewpoint. Even his comment about trading polygamy for statehood has some merit. Anti-mormons and fundamentalists share this same view. I’m not sure why jeriboy got so worked up over it. Bruce probably got a bit thin-skinned (as he mentioned) since jeriboy does not necessarily represent the mission or views of StayLDS.org.
Certainly, will do. It’s been nothing but positive to this point, as NOBODY has complained to me yet. I have been wondering how to work with jeriboy for some time. I asked him in a private message to be careful of his tone, but he hasn’t checked his new messages – so my PM is sitting in my Outbox undelivered. I told him I sent him a message in one of the threads, but I don’t want to give him a tutorial in a thread about how to check PMs. He doesn’t understand how to use the quote function, so I have been editing his comments to make them more reader friendly. He appears to be here almost with the intent of making sure a “faithful” perspective is available, and he regularly comes across a bit condescending – but it rarely is egregious.
*sigh*
So far, I think we have handled it well – as most of the regular participants appear to ignore much of what he says and continue the normal conversation. Also, he occasionally says something truly profound and inspiring. Perhaps, this situation will help him; perhaps, it will drive him away – that we sided with a fundamentalist over him. I don’t know. I just know that I couldn’t let his attack on Bruce go unchallenged.
We’ll see.
Bruce is interesting. I personally enjoy having him around because his views are so different. I’ve not had any complaints either about him. Bruce seems to handle himself very good considering his position. Jeriboy seems to go in wild swings from one end to the other. I think i’ve had to send warnings to Jeriboy before, but lately I have in my mind they were contributing nicely.
