Let’s keep an eye on CharlieZeroZero. He’s the new person whose introduction is a long porn confession. I really wasn’t going to approve his intro post at first. I am not really sure he fits our site model. We aren’t in the business of absolving believers from the guilt of their sins. I know all that, but something (the spirit) just really prompted me to engage him and try to help.
If it doesn’t get back on track or turn positive, I will shut it down and work with him privately. It is such a common problem out there in the Church though. Perhaps he or someone else might benefit from some open discussion. I don’t know…
Like I said, feel free to talk me out of it. I just couldn’t walk by on the road today and not help this “samaritan.”
My biggest concern (other than the one about how well he fits the mission of the site) is that DA will jump in and start telling him that porn is no big deal. He doesn’t need that right now. He needs therapy, not validation in that particular choice. I’m reading between the lines, but I think there are lots of sexual issues in his past – and validating porn usage in that situation is a really bad idea, imo.
I think working with him privately is a GREAT solution. I’m not the right person, but I think you might be, Brian.
Agreed, but I will also add that I think Brian handled it masterfully, and some people are in a new stage and phase, and need that coaching to become aware of issues around church teachings apart from just problems in life that require professional help. In other words, there is a chance he gets real help if he listens to Brian. If we just ban him, who knows what other sites he’ll find and the advice he’ll get. Also, if he doesn’t catch a clue and continues to confess and not keep the tone of this site… need to ban him abruptly. I judge it by his next few posts. I will keep an eye on him.
