Just a side note. If every Sister in my ward showed up in slacks this Sunday…. I am not even sure I would pick up on it. Things like this are the least of my concerns or things I am looking for. I have never read where officially Sisters must have a dress nor have I ever read a Brother has to have a white shirt and tie for that matter. We as LDS unfortunately extend culture further then Doctrine….but I see that as the few and that most get it. Sadly sometimes the few are loudest.

DBMormon: so glad you chimed in! So obviously, there is no letter. Thank goodness! No deception by the leadership. What the LDS spokesman stated is the position of the Church. Which means it is just time to ignore the cultural mandates.

So I am just wondering what is up with groups like “Let women Pray” and “wear pants to church.”

Did they just kinda lose steam and disband.

Did they act as forerunners for the main event of “ordain women?”

Are they still around but laying low to not draw attention to themselves?

    Just wondering.

I assume Let Women Pray has felt like they succeeded (as long as it is normal going forward for gen conference to have women praying).

I can’t tell how much the ex’ing of Kate has put a chill on who is willing do be “bold” and push for change.

    Interesting questions.

In my opinion the recent ecclesiastical decisions have quieted the movements. Many people have actually stepped away from the church because the fight isn’t worth the heart ache, others are trying a different approach or are sitting quietly watching some other less obvious approaches.

I believe there was a pants to church day recently but it was a quiet press deal. I know OW put up billboards for Christmas in Salt Lake and had a caroling on Temple Square night. Other than that things on all fronts are quiet.

I think they will be for a long time.

LDS church spokesman Scott Trotter said clothing is not meant to be the focus of church attendance. “Attending church is about worship and learning to be followers of Jesus Christ,” LDS spokesman Scott Trotter said Tuesday in a statement. “Generally church members are encouraged to wear their best clothing as a sign of respect for the Savior, but we don’t counsel people beyond that.”

This is sort of interesting; if I ever get around to buying a formal kilt, it will likely be the single most expensive piece of clothing I own.

And with my leg hair, it might inspire a detailed dress code. 😆
