    http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/immigration-church-issues-new-statement

    Quote:

“The bedrock moral issue for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is how we treat each other as children of God. “

    Quote:

“The history of mass expulsion or mistreatment of individuals or families is cause for concern especially where race, culture, or religion are involved. This should give pause to any policy that contemplates targeting any one group, particularly if that group comes mostly from one heritage.”

I came across this again today and wanted to share it. It probably is my favorite political statement from the Church, ever.

    It is a good quote.

It makes me cringe a bit. I shouldn’t allow other issues to creep in, and just focus on what they are saying about immigration issues.

But the cringe comes from them not including LGBT into that line of thinking. And perhaps, because 50 years ago, they would have had to leave “race” out of that quote too.

In short, it sounds good to aspire to… ” treat each other as children of God”. But can the church members really walk the talk?
