Two thoughts:

(1) I’d lost my line of authority and emailed the church to find it. I value it as a reminder and inspiration that my priesthood derives directly from Jesus Christ regardless of the number or identity of the names between. And also for the relevance of discussions with non members, when prompted, about church organization (maybe some of the TBM in me).

(2) I lived the first 15 years of my life in Texas and the next 15 in Utah. By the time I graduated college my wife and I couldn’t wait to get the hell out of Utah ( pardon my French). She’s from Alaska and we both had a very hard time being LDS in Utah.

It’s quite cool in the sense of who it links you up with. It’s like family research in that we’re all connected… You could probably make family trees out of the lines… I’m related to everyone else on this board, for the simple reason that mine comes via Brigham Young…
