GuestI was wondering this after I read DA’s post on whether he fears what will happen after this life is over…. Will life in the eternities be like life in the earthly Church?
I could list the deficits and benefits of the experience, but I think we all know them. And of course to some our deficits are their benefits (I recognize and accept this).
The scriptures do say that the same sociality that exists here, will exist there. Does that imply that our church culture persists in the eternities? Culture is very social….
I think it likely does — because if the LDS Church is correct, the people who will populate the celestial kingdom will have lived a lifetime in the church, and will bring their earthy church values to that new environment.

GuestNo one really knows. But for myself I can say one thing with absolute surety. If it were I would no part if it. I think hierarchy, indoctrination, dogma, compliance to others(peer pressure) 1 way relationships(work, religion are firms of relationships), are very unrighteousness. If heaven had those things I would want no part in it and would have no problem saying so to god. Put me wherever but nothing cooks be worse then that. I would prefer being beat the rest of my life and all eternity then to suffer through that anymore. So for me personally I confidently don’t want any part in those things or exclusivity of any kind.
What I would want to be a huge part of is a community or civilization that had no real hierarchy.
They would work side by side to accomplish happy positive goals and results for everyone. One one would command another, they would just work together to achieve positive and healthy things. No one would make you are even try to make you believe certain things, they just wouldn’t care about such trivialities.
They wouldn’t word things or use tactics to try to get you to comply with status que or system
Goals. It would be about a few select individuals but about the individual and the whole. Not one favored above another doing their best.
There would be a wide range of music and creation of many wonderful
Things. Not just a few select approved things.
My version of heaven, in the sense I would want to be there is vastly different them what I witness taking place in church in my life. Both from a system design, rules and behavior.
I would never worship I god that operated like the church, system or people. But I would love one that works without all the systematic stipulation and one way relationship. Without hierarchy.
I would love the pure Mormon theology one. But we are nothing like that, even the system itself. So I await, hoping we will move the church in that direction. I’m trying to do my part to do so. But it is hard.

GuestI doubt it highly. Sociality is very, very different than culture, and gods are very, very different than mortals.

Definitely not. I suspect it will be beyond us, in the same way that adult working life is beyond a two year old.

Even if we as LDS had some sort of an inside track to the celestial kingdom, there have supposedly been 7 dispensations of people before us with vastly different cultures and values. I expect that
everyonewill be surprised at what heaven is like and that everyone will need to make adjustments to their expectations. -
