We are supposed to be open-minded to truth from non-LDS sources, so here goes:

    Quote:

•“When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: “If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.” It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: “If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?” And whenever the answer has been “No” for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.

That’s what I did when I looked in the mirror and decided it was time to get out my calling a couple years ago…I think each member of our Church needs to have that priviledge if we are going to have a passionate organization that loves to serve.

    Quote:

•“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

I think this is part of what we’re trying to get to here — finding out OWN VOICE in our lives as we live in a Mormon community. And sometimes that means being a “sassy girlygirl” if your username is girlygirl.

Wow! I think JS would totally get behind that!

    Love the quotes.

I’ve been thinking about the first one in relation to my occupation for some time. I love what I do, but I still think about it regularly.

Sorry to hear about the death of Mr Jobs, but in the end, I just see him as a good marketer, not a great thinker or innovator. His products are well marketed but over-complex. A friend of mine sent a letter to the local paper which was a bit more blunt – basically saying he’s not the saint some people say he is!

    Quote:

“If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.”

Does that mean running around in a panic, trying to find a lawyer to get your last will and testament down, and saying goodbye to everyone?! 😆

(I know this really means enjoying every sunset, not upsetting people, etc etc, but I don’t think that’s what I’d do if I was told I had a day to live.)

Did he really live his life like this, or did he knuckle down at the office and use various business practises?

Here’s where I disagree. Einstein said that when we discover the secret of creation, it will be simple and beautiful. The genius in Job’s products were their simplicity. As Einstein said, the mark of a true genius is the ability to take a complex topic, and make it simple.

I just see him as another businessman and profiteer. Sorry.

Did he say that his child employees and poisoned workers should live every day as their last?

I LOVE having the gospel library on my iPod and iPad!! It makes it so convenient having everything in one place and a variety of books and manuals and scriptures and conference talks.

I think the church can do a bit better on making the apps easier to highlight and cross reference…but it is getting there.
