The message below is what Limhah sent in response to my request to let us know the nature of the post he wanted to write about polygamy. In different words, my response to the message was to bugger off.

I want all of you to see it, because, frankly, I want to ban him. He never comments on anything except polygamy and homosexuality (and a couple of other topics where he can insert a fundamentalist perspective), and he is downright vicious in his views of homosexuality. (with only 37 comments, total, since he registered) He doesn’t belong here.

What do all of you think? (I also sent this in a private message, in case some of you don’t see this post.)

The admins will talk about it, but first, we need to know:

Do you want to post it to defend polygamy and talk about your belief that it is the correct way to view marriage – and that, ideally, the LDS Church should re-embrace it and authorize it again?

Please send me the answer to that question in a Private Message. I will share it with the admins. This thread is about homosexuality, not polygamy, so this threadjack ends with this comment.

No, let’s talk about new ways to persecute polygamists. Maybe we could take their kids away and give them to nice normal homosexual couples. Meanwhile, the church continues its slide down to the level of the world …

    Here is his follow-up response:

    Quote:

Well, I apologize if it seemed like a personal comment, which it was not intended to be — it was intended to be a general statement of exasperation based on previous encounters I’ve had in discussions with people about this issue. Nevertheless, it remains a fact that the LDS organization today is one of the primary factors behind persecution of those living the plural lifestyle, as it has been since the ’30s, and there is no doubt this is due to governmental pressure and/or fear of “the world.” So, it does indeed continue its slide … that much is factual (again, not personal as such, since you’re obviously not in charge of the church.) I do get a little heated when my family is threatened or I have to put up with snide comments like “so-called wives” / “self-proclaimed polygamist” etc., though that heat was not meant to be directed at you personally. Other things that get me heated include being told that I can’t use the term “the Principle” in regards to celestial marriage, supposedly because people might “misunderstand” (whatever that means!) Imagine the reception I’d get if I said something like, “well, homosexuals can call their unions whatever they like, they’re not real marriages, and I’d prefer if people don’t use that term in regards to homosexual unions.” !

    My response:

    Quote:

This is a forum for members of the LDS Church who want to stay involved with the LDS Church. We make no secret about that, although we allow people who are not LDS to participate – as long as they support our mission. That is explicit; we don’t hide it in any way. It’s what we do here – plain and simple.

Advocating for polygamy as the right version of marriage – and that the LDS Church’s opposition to it proves the LDS Church is sliding toward the wicked world – doesn’t fit our mission. Nothing about that stance helps the people who participate here “stayLDS”. It’s that simple.

Multiple messages back and forth. Just learned he actually is Muslim now.

Interesting discussion. I still don’t think he belongs here.
