    Hi Everyone,

On our old forum setup, I had a mod installed called “Tapatalk.” I am not sure who is or was using it, but I did not replace it yet after this major update to version 3.2. This software reformatted the boards for easier use on iPhone and Android mobile devices. It’s a great idea, but I wanted to gather feedback on what people want? Are there better options? I will do some research too, but let me know here in this thread if there is an app you like to use for phpBB forum reading on your mobile device.

    Thanks,

    -Brian J.

I use tapatalk on IOS for this board quite a bit. I CAN use a browser, but the font size is so small and sometimes hard to hit the little square that says take me to the latest unread part of the thread and I hit the thread name – and end up at the very beginning of the thread. So I do prefer to have the app when on my phone, in fact I have a strong testimony of it. :-)

And thanks for upgrading. I have a few other boards that I visit that use phpBB and I noticed a while back when they updated and a few nice features I missed not having here on stayLDS.

I installed the Tapatalk extension and went to their site to update the “site owner” information. They are reporting a problem detecting the connection from their end. I can’t find a lot of information for troubleshooting this error online, so I submitted a support ticket. I will keep working on it over the next couple days.

I used it for a while, and then it stopped behaving properly. I did a reinstall of the app and then it was never quite the same. I couldn’t find things or navigate through the forums properly on my Android. So, I stopped using it. I would love there to be a remote app for my phone that works really well, for those times when I’m waiting in line, bored in a meeting (non-church) etcetera.

Is it expensive? I think a poll might be a good idea to see how many people are aware of it, and actually use it.

I know of no other apps that allow discussion forum access on a cell phone, however.

A data point: before the upgrade, using this forum on my phone was uncomfortable because everything was too small. Even reading was awkward. Now it’s great.

    It is much better now.

I don’t seem to see the “PM” (private message) as an option though. On the standard web version I see under the avatar a “contact” that then has one option for PM. But I don’t see anything in the mobile web version.

I used to use Tapatalk but in the last couple days it hasn’t worked at all, and now I’m assuming it’s from the upgrade. It just says that StayLDS is unavailable so I can’t even log in. It’s quite frustrating because that was my main way of going on staylds.com. I have an android. I’m on my laptop now, but I sure preferred the setup on tapatalk.

I have used my mobile web browser for a few days since the upgrade. It has improved, but I still would rather use the app. I found it just faster to read/reply.

This newer version of the forum software also seems to format itself much better for mobile viewing just through the browser.

Tapatalk seems like it is working now. I received a troubleshooting response from their tech support, and tweaked a couple of things. Post here if you see problems.

Is anybody else using Tapatalk? I tend to use it when on my iPhone, but I am in front of my computer most of the time and I use the web interface. On both I always focus on “unread messages”.

I am fairly sure that since the upgrade, Tapatalk seems to disregard if I have read something on the web and still shows “unread” in Tapatalk.

    Anybody else seeing that?
