I heard something in the morning session of conference today that gave me a new way of looking at things. I have felt disappointed at times by church leaders, especially when it came to abusive situations. I always said that i felt like the Priesthood had let me down. Can’t remember which speaker said this, but he said,”The priesthood is not men.” A light came on. The priesthood has never let me down. I may have been let down by leaders who held the priesthood, but not by the priesthood itself. I need to remember to put things in to perspective and remember that there are certain truths that will never change, regardless of what men,(or women), might do.

It was a good thing for me to hear.

Doctrine and Covenants 121:34 – 41 has always helped me to see the difference between the priesthood and those that hold the priesthood. Definitely not the same.

I love that scripture and was just reading it again yesterday.

I think there’s a lesson in there for everyone… “Many are called but few are chosen, and why are they not chosen? Because their hearts are set so much up on the things of this world, and aspire to the honors of men…”

The way is indeed narrow and few find it, often because of the predominant tendency to worship people over God… whether it be the liberal leaders, or the conservative leaders. Both preach cognitive distortions that are not of God, and so will ultimately fail.

there were other talks in conference that spoke to me, too—-I just can’t pull them off the top of my head—and I tried not to get discouraged as I looked over at my husband who appeared to be sleeping through a lot of it. Maybe he heard more than I think–sometimes he looks like he is sleeping when he is actually awake, but I know at one time I tried to give him a snack—and i had to wake him up—oh well, patience, right?

    I can relate.

    I’m glad for 2 reasons…

    1. My DH isn’t the only one who snoozes when others talk

    2. I’m not the only one who puts him to sleep when talking – even GA’s do! 😆
