Excellent link OON!!!
Here is a key takeaway — the first Sunday meeting where they counsel together is one of listening…
Melchizedek Priesthood quorums and Relief Societies “sit in council” (D&C 107:89) on the first Sunday of each month. Under the direction of priesthood or Relief Society leaders, first-Sunday meetings are used to identify local needs and counsel together about how to meet those needs. Possible topics for first-Sunday councils include how to improve communication with family members, serve in the community, and mentor youth in the ward or branch. In subsequent meetings, the quorum, group, or Relief Society follows up on impressions and actions.
I have often wished the third hour was a business meeting sort of, at least once or twice a month. Opening exercises is like that anyway. You have to be careful that you don’t make less active feel put on the spot as if they’ve been placed on a committee without their consent, but using the time to strategize is useful and important.
I just wish these changes were going to happen sooner than 2018….
And think of all the money they are saving on manuals! I think some people might’ve lost their jobs in the church administration building, and in the correlation department.
