I haven’t seen Maleficent but this brief article in Time magazine was insightful to me. The screen writer for Maleficent and Belle from Beauty and the Beast shares some great insight on timing and cultures presentation of women. http://time.com/2798136/maleficent-beauty-beast-writer/ Considering the idea that organized religion usually follows cultural trends, I find her candor inspiring.
