May this day be one that is devoid of contention, anger, hard feelings and condemnation. May we commit to make it such within our own spheres of influence.

May love fill our hearts to overflowing this day. May we commit to allow it to be so on other days.

May our differences matter less than our common status as children of God. May we commit to see it as so no matter with whom we associate.

May all of us appreciate and respect those with whom we disagree – in word as well as in deed. May we commit to so speak and do, even with those who persecute and spitefully use us.

In all our deepest desires, may there be a road before us – and may we allow others to walk their own individual roads without throwing stones and placing unnecessary obstacles in their way. May we commit to walk thus, no matter how often our roads intersect.

May the example of those whose lives we use as our guide be ever before our eyes – and be honored in the way we live with and treat others. May we commit to remember to look back as we move forward.

May we see each other as God sees us. May we commit to be God’s love for others.

    Merry Christmas, everyone.

    What Ray said! ;) :D 😆

I logged on to say exactly (well almost exactly) what Ray said…of course he beat me to it.

Through my spiritual journey, I’ve come to view Christmas as a holiday representing absolute and pure love. My life is better than it’s ever been, and I am so humble and grateful for everything. I thank you, all my friends here on this wonderful, supportive forum…and wish each of you a great and prosperous New Year too!

    :)

    Merry Christmas friends!

We enjoyed a wonderful time together as a family.

Despite the fact my 2 year old was suffering from a raging eye infection and ear infection. Poor guy.

Just wondered how it was going so far for everyone? Like everything in life, mine seems to be a mixed bag. You always have this fantasy of how you picture everything will be but it’s usually somewhere inbetween. My daughter arrived December 17th with her 20 month old foster child from San Antonio Texas. Then her oldest son who is 17 arrived on the 20th and her husband on the 21st. Johnathan, arrived from Seattle on Dec. 24th 3:30 am, because of all the delays in flights. My husband, grandson, and Johnathan were exhausted when they got home at 4 am so they slept til noon. I got up at 5 am to get the turkey stuffed and put in the oven early for our big Christmas Eve dinner. We have the European tradition of having our dinner, program, and opening of the presents on Holy Night, Christmas Eve. Everyone helped with the preparations but as usual I ended up doing most of the work of cleaning and cooking and preparing the program. Our oldest son arrived at 5:30 pm with his wife and two girls who are 10 and 7. Everything went well, and the power point slide show I prepared of Christmases past was very special. My oldest grandson played Christmas songs with his saxophone and we sang Christmas carols. Of course there was the huge mess to clean up afterwards and everyone pitched in which is important as I was so exhausted. I finally found a medication that is working for my under active thyroid, but I am not quite stablized yet, so my energy level is low.

    > Christmas day we had plenty of left overs and goodie plates to eat from and went to the movies. We also played Scrabble which Johnathan is an expert at as well as Mexican train domones.. Sunday, my daughter and her family attended their evangelical church and we went with Johnathan to the Unitarian church. He was able to meet some of the gay friends we had made there recently. Johnathan also attended the affirming diversty group in our city this evening which he very much enjoyed. So basically we have been very respectful of each others differences and have had some really enjoyable times. Life is complicated though and trying not to be disagreeable when disagreeing is not always easy. Bathrooms are crowded, and being together in close quarters brings its squabbles, and stresses as well. My husband had bought an RV for Christmas and put it in our small backyard as he wants to start traveling during our golden years. It was great to put my daughter, and her family in there so we could have more room and privacy. Lots of laundry having to be done and money spent on extra towels, electric blankets, sheets, food and household supplies were becoming a bit expensive but we wanted everyone to be comfortable.

    > Johnathan was able to see the specialist who had advised a Pet Scan for him last summer and go over his limitations and scan results. That lasted two hours and was beneficial for him and us. My husband had several long talks with Johnathan that I thought were good, but Johnathan seems to focus on the one or two small crictisms my husband gave and forgets all the praise his dad gave him. So, there is some strong anomosity against his dad still, but hopefully in time he will come to understand that our concern for him is out of love. He is a late bloomer but is making progress in maturing and we are all being forced to grow. We are always being tested to see just how Christ-like we are under pressure. I think for the most part we have done pretty good, but it will be nice when all leave to go home and the house is all ours again. January 9-17th we will be in Orlando Florida area because my husband has to give a lecture at the Palmer Chiropractic college in Port Orange, Florida. I am looking forward to getting out of the cold mid west and seeing the Ocean again. In about 5 years we hope to retire in that area. I am thankful for Christ in my life to deal with all the stresses we have to handle in this world. I know I would be alot more grouchy if it were not for faith in HIm.

Thanks, Bridget. What a wild Christmas you had.

I am living separate from my wife in an apartment, and my kids were with me nearly the whole time from December 23 til this morning. It was pretty laid back, but we got into a habit of retiring and arising wayyyy too late. :-D I think we overall had a pretty nice time with each other.
