GuestI wrote a mission statement. I also wrote up a “code of conduct” for forum participation. Please read them and offer any feedback. Let me know if you think something I said was wrong, was not clear, or does not represent the purpose of the site. Please let me know if you would like anything else added.
They are posted in the “Rules and Policies” forum section. The topics are locked. They are really just announcements and not discussion topics. This is a common method used in online forums to inform users and set the ground rules.

GuestI don’t know why I never noticed the update until yesterday. I think it sounds good, thanks for doing this (I know I’m late in saying). One thing that caught my eye is in the “rules of Etiquette” post. Last line under list of “Do’s” it says “it is okay to be critical of the Church” — I wonder if slightly softer wording may be better (I’m always thinking of the Conservative/traditionals that may browse the site in concern when learning of someone’s activity here). Maybe something like “it is okay to discuss flaws found in the church” or “issues that you have personally found troubling”, possibly even change the word critical to ‘analytical’ . I don’t know, I think the word “critical” is a hot button for a lot of members (“Don’t criticize church leaders!”) – and if they think we are just banding together to be critical we become the road to apostacy in their eyes. I think we can talk about issues without making personal attacks on any leaders (as a stated goal at least – I’m not too worried about what some posters may say).
Just a thought. That was the only sentance that popped out at me, the rest sounds very good.

GuestWhat Orson said, for the second time today.
I agree with his suggestion about “critical”. Technically, I have no problem as a parser with the word, but others look at it very differently. I like “analytical” – or any of his suggestions.

Guestcool. I changed it to “analytical about the Church.” I think it’s abundantly clear from the rest of the rules that we can talk openly about the things that trouble our heart. Thanks for the feedback.
