Hi – In times of deep emotions words are a gift to me. In the moments after the announcement of Kate Kelly’s excommunication I began two different threads with words that came to my heart.

Admin Request Can we lock those two threads and I will just keep this one, if anyone wants to reply to anything I put up, they can do it here. That way I won’t fill a whole page. I’ll just use this thread for my therapy and anyone elses. Thanks.

The present additional thought comes from a book entitled Constructive Living. The words seemed perfect for today.

    Quote:

Life isn’t fair. “The rain falls on the just and on the unjust.” That’s the way it is. Sometimes we try hard, put forth our best effort, and fail. Sometimes life plops a ripe fruit in our laps as we lounge in the sunshine. We can act to improve the odds of achieving success, but nothing guarantees it. Failure presents something else for us to do, just as success does. It’s in responding to every moment’s needs regardless of success or failure, that we mature.

With this last quote I am not stating or deciding who succeeded or failed. I am not taking sides. I only know that tremendous shock, confusion and pain exists, perhaps maybe in some corners some jubilance – but this experience (no matter where you stand on it) can be a stepping stone to becoming as Hawkgrrl says an Adult With God.

This is presenting many opportunities to practice charity. My mantra right now.

    Thanks for your thoughts mom3.

I’m finding that I’m more sad about the news than anything. I’m sad that this event has the potential to plant seeds of anger, division, judgmentalism, and superiority that could last for many years. It’s a reminder to guard myself against those tendencies and to look for small ways where I can help people that are within my reach to be one again.

    +1

I found myself in a conversation tonight with friends who have very little idea of my “crisis” and disillusionment. I realized that this is where it’s at – the present moment. When the topic of KK/OW came up, what exactly could I say that would respect their outlook, work to build a bridge between me and my husband, and not throw the two women I know with profiles on OW under the bus – all while being completely honest? I don’t know if I succeeded, but I don’t want to feel afraid to try.

I am with you Nibbler and Ann – 100%.

Ann, I have a strong faith that any effort toward bridge building no matter how small becomes the mustard seed of healing. I am certain you achieved.

The two thoughts that are carrying me today are –

    1) From the New Testament and the image and idea of the first 12 apostles quarreling. How does this help – it reminds me that even in the presence of the man I call Savior – we brothers and sisters don’t always get along.

    2) A Buddhist quote is my mantra today,

    Quote:

The sacrifice of nearly dying brought forth in Buddha an awakening to the idea that our bodies and the heart-minds that guide them can bring us into relationship with all living beings. When we lose the importance of our relationships, we suffer, and society suffers. Our deepest wisdom is also lost. We grow hungry for ourselves as peacemakers.
