I personally don’t see it that way. There is something deeper goiing on. I see the Book of Mormon as deep and full of spiritual insights. I see the Book of Mormon teaching to multiple levels and today we talk about one of those. Joseph was a young man and he was one person and yet the Book of Mormon seems to be a mix of immature naive writers and deep wise experienced ones. Today we discuss how The Book of Mormon is complex and how it parts of it are contained teachings that seem to speak very much to Fowler’s Stage 5. Hope you enjoyhttp://www.pbs.org/mormons/interviews/holland.htmlhttp://www.pbs.org/mormons/interviews/holland.html” class=”bbcode_url”> July 28, 2013 at 3:30 am #257978Anonymous
GuestYour most recent podcast was very uplifting. Some people on Facebook have posted similar things on Nephi’s strengths and weaknesses. I’ve always noticed the scriptures talks so much about things being so bad the wicked killing the prophets. Things haven’t been that bad since Joseph Smith and Brigham Young were alive. Again, very uplifting podcast. Thanks. 😆 July 28, 2013 at 6:54 pm #257979Anonymous
GuestThank You. The podcast is a reflection of me and the things I think about. I can’t even describe the amount of personal change that has occurred in my understanding over the last 5 years, the very depth is amazing. The key is to keep thinking, keep looking for more, and keep asking God for it. Many people learn less and less about the gospel as they get older and think they know it all or close to all. They hit a plateau and stop making the effort to learn. The secret is to keep pressing on, the amount you learn doesn’t have to slow down, in fact it can grow exponentially. I have learned twice as much the last 5 years then I did the first 12, and I was always reading, studying, thinking. Thanks for listening

http://mormondiscussion.podbean.com/ What is Tithing? Many love to jump in here and state their definition and unknowingly impose it on others. But what Does the Lord say and perhaps more importantly for us as Latter-Day Saints, what does the Church say on this matter officially. Is tithing paid on Gross wages, net wages, or leftover after all our needs are provided for?
Today we examine that and discuss how we define Tithing within the Church… I mean really get at the real definition

GuestThanks for this episode! I enjoyed learning about the original definition of tithing! July 31, 2013 at 1:43 am #257983Anonymous
Guestme too. I was taught it was gross… no if ands or buts. I actually was offended, that they (teachers and ward leaders) took this personal revelation out of my hands. That is what this is all about, your being asked by God to go talk to him. To get a revelation and develop your relationship with him. Moroni 7 – way to judge – what draws you to Christ and his attributes is of God. If you and him settle on surplus, more power to you. you and him settle on gross, more power to you. GuestListening to your interview on “The good word”. I like your message of “slow down”, in the middle of my crisis my wife (bless her heart) felt a need to push “are you in or are you out?” We know that is exactly the wrong thing to do but emotions often drive that desire to be “settled”. I also like how you explain that flexibility is necessary. That is an important message that our church culture does not always support. It is really nice to have some recent GC talks, like Elder Uchtdorf’s priesthood message, to support the idea.

http://mormondiscussion.podbean.comhttp://mormondiscussion.podbean.com” class=”bbcode_url”> We interview Patrick Mason, one of the editors of the book “War & Peace In Our Time : Mormon Perspectives”. We discuss War and Peace in the scriptures, in our LDS culture, and in our views within our Church community. Patrick and I discuss how a LDS can be a faithful, active, participating Latter-Day Saint while one’s personal beliefs fall anywhere along the spectrum of believing in a “Just War” is condoned by God to the other extreme of being a pacifist. That in reflection there is plenty of room for faith within this issue once we grasp how to navigate our way through scriptures and what is Doctrine.
The book – War & Peace can be purchased at Greg Kofford Books at the link below
