GuestContrary to the belief of some, Mormonism is not a big deal outside of Mormonism. If Mitt were president he would have had much more pressing issues to deal with than earings and tattoos. I think his Mormonism would have faded quickly. Nobody talks about Obamas pastor any more but during the election it was a big deal. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

GuestI do think the church might have had to do some minor “damage control” under a Romney presidency. Romney is for more center right than he pretended to be to get nominated by the party, and I believe the media eventually would have scrutinized that and would have tried to make the connection to the church, at least initially. It was during the Romney campaign, for instance, that the church reaffirmed that caffeine is not part of the WoW- because Romney drinks caffeinated soda. I did vote for him and I was disappointed but not surprised he lost. I voted for him not because he is Mormon but because I think he would have brought us more to the center than the current liberal/progressive regime (and I say that as a student of political science knowing what all of those words really mean). You’d be surprised. I don’t even live in the USA, and Mitt’s Mormonism comprized about 1/3 of the media coverage about him.
One of my friends got bullied at work because of coverage of temple garments in the papers.
