OK. Everyone here has heard about the possible excommunications of John Dehlin and Kate Kelly. I’m sorry to see that might happen. I’m even sorrier for friend Kevin Kloosterman that lives near my home ward. His ward and my ward hold services in the same building. I can understand why Denver Snuffer was excommunicated and why Allan Rock Waterman might be excommunicated. They’ve said some things are clearly against the church. The only thing I see that Kloosterman has been doing is trying to help gays feel loved, in and out of the church. I can understand people being called to repentance by being excommunicated or being denied their temple recommends, but I believe the bishop of this ward is wrong for doing this. And leaders have been wrong as well as right. I hope this bishop doesn’t get called as bishop in my ward. Keep in mind, the ward he covers is in the same stake as mine. The bishop told him that an area 70 is monitoring his activity on Facebook now. This is really bugging me now. What are all your thoughts about this?

You live in a unique place – one of the most “extreme” in this regard in the Church. (Anyone who doesn’t know where this is, don’t ask. Seriously.) There is a wide spectrum in the Church, and you have the short stick in that regard.

I feel for the membership there. I really do.

    Yes.

This area is the Genesis of all my problems with church leaders and threats.

Thanks for the support, Ray. Cwald, what do you mean by that? You live in Oregon, not where I live.

Kevin K.’s TR removal was to me the most extreme action to date. Well, maybe taking TRs from those who simply have an OW profile. And I don’t see Kate’s actions as intentionally apostate if at all. Ill-advised, yes (the second time).

    Deleted.

I’m sorry. I thought we were talking about Cache Valley.

    My apologies.

Kevin and I spoke at the Kirtland Sunstone Conference together a year ago. He also had lunch with me and my wife and a friend. He is awesome and I consider him a dear dear friend. Of all that is going on, I consider his treatment the most ludicrous. Sad and frustrated that we have leaders who are so “us vs them” that people like Kevin are made the focus.

Thank for the comment, Bill. I agree 100 percent.
