GuestHi everyone. I haven’t been too active on the board for a while, so I thought I would reintroduce myself. I started going through my faith struggle back in January and joined this forum sometime in May. My faith struggle started primarily with studying other religions and finding it hard to accept the idea of “one true church” anymore. It wasn’t too much longer before I found myself diving into full blown agnosticism. Now, some eight or nine months later, I feel like I’m feeling pretty comfortable with where my beliefs sit. Intellectually I feel like I have found ways to resolve my doubts, and have started going back to church for the last month or so. I’m still dealing with some emotional hurt from the experience, but am optimistic that even that will go away with time. More of my story can be found on my blog at: http://mydarknightofthesoul.blogspot.com/http://mydarknightofthesoul.blogspot.com/” class=”bbcode_url”> I wouldn’t say I have returned to full-blown literal belief. My faith has definitely taken on some nuance, but I am more believing than not. As I explain in several of my entries, I don’t view factual truth as the most important thing when it comes to faith. Other things take greater priority. I have come to accept that uncertainty and ambiguity is something that just has to be lived with in all aspects of our lives. While everyone’s experiences are different, I hope what I have written provides some useful tools for others.
I’ll be focusing most of my energy on maintaining my own blog, but I’ll still pop by and make comments here from time to time. Thank you all for your support during my darkest hour!

GuestThank you, ltc. It’s always good to get updates on people about whom we’ve come to care personally. I understand the need to maintain one’s own blog. Keeping mine going and participating here has reduced greatly my involvement at other sites I used to frequent regularly. I still comment on a few quite regularly, but I’ve had to cut way back on my participation at many others – even stopping altogether on quite a few.

That’s what we’re here for. Glad you feel like you are getting your balance back and that our community was helpful to you in figuring out your new direction. It’s very normal, and perhaps even the most healthy, to use a community like ours as a temporary transition platform. If you feel you sorted things out and are happy, then move on and be happy. That’s great! Stop on by to say hello whenever. We’ll keep a light on for you.

GuestThanks for coming back and sharing how it played out. It’s great to read about the successes. September 7, 2012 at 8:31 am #258952Anonymous
GuestFeel free to take quotes from your blog and post them here to initiate the discussion with this group, if you wish. It sounds like you have found some good ways to view things and feel more comfortable at church. That’s a good thing. I wonder if you find it to be true that by going through your experiences, you can be more compassionate towards others and their views on things?

GuestWelcome. I am new to this also. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate and given yourself a lot of titles. I would suggest 2 more if that would be alright? How about brother and friend? I like those. I look forward to hearing more from you. -
