Just a quick note on one of our previous posters. In the tug of war between StayLDS and NOM, NOM seems to have won him over. From his post this morning at NOM:

    Quote:

I will post more later but I just wanted to let you all know that you were right and I was wrong. I can’t put all the stuff down and believe it any longer.

My sincere appreciation to you all for your patience with me.

IIRC, he went to NOM after finding out a bunch of historical stuff he didn’t know, then 3 days later did a total about face and said he was reconciled with the church. That’s the same time he posted over here. At NOM, they completely tore him to shreds for the about-face and recommended the usual reading (Brodie, Palmer, etc.). He’s done another about-face, or so it would seem from the above. Seems to be completely stuck in a black & white mind set. It’s kind of fascinating to watch, although I’m not crazy about this recruitment aspect of NOM. I know that sounds hypocritical and self-serving since we are running a site called “StayLDS,” but I don’t think the gang at NOM are (with some noteworthy exceptions) spiritually healthy enough, smart enough, well-intentioned enough, mature enough, or balanced enough to make a positive difference in people’s lives. *Sigh*

That is exactly how I view it, Hawk.

    That’s a shame.

I really haven’t been over to NOM in almost 2 years since my wife asked me to leave it. It sounds like things may have degraded a bit since then.

Orson – I’m not sure it’s gotten worse. I couldn’t stomach it at all six months ago when I looked in, but now I can stomach about 40%. This particular incident just disappointed me.

    pretty good analysis Hawk.

People will go where they need to go. They will trave their journey. I recall that person not sounding quite done yet. We should keep our welcome open, but he probably isn’t ready yet.
