I just have to say I appreciate your (new-ish) guys comments  and it’s fun seeing a light turn on here and there, remembering the process.

It takes me back to a critical juncture in my own life, when I didn’t have any clue that I could make the church work but at the same time realizing that my wife was (bless her) not able to deal with a husband “out of the church.” StayLDS was not around at that point but I started pondering the bits and scraps of what I could find. I picked up a sense that some people successfully found an approach, that there was a Fowler stage 5, etc. Not too long after that we all got started here…

Anyway thanks for helping me onto my little memory trip this morning. I’m glad there is now a place for us to have these discussions.

Welcome to this place of peace and understanding. I went through a divorce about 16 years ago and it was the worst thing ever but I survived and things have turned out actually better in some aspects. A faith crisis based on church issues instead of your own, added to a divorce would be a very hard thing to deal with and my heart goes out to you. There have been a a lot of good things said already on this post, so I won’t add much but I know that it can feel very lonely. I was living in Harper’s Ferry WV when I divorced and I’m sure your situation in PA would be about the same with most of your friends being from church and they know both you and your ex-wife. It really sucks sometimes. The one thing that I really wanted to add it that things do and will get better if you really try to focus on making it better, instead of wallowing in your own self pity. Hopefully you aren’t doing that. Use this site as your sounding board. It helps a lot.
