Well, this is a strange thing. Yesterday, I was out by the pool in my bikini when the bishop stopped by. I threw on a cover up that wasn’t really doing its job, and he extended a calling to me for RS 2nd Counselor. It’s very strange since I don’t really know anyone in this ward well, and I don’t know the President who called me–like at all. She pulled my name off the roster. So this should be interesting.

Sounds like inspiration. I bet there will be a lot of improvements and better lessons from now on in your ward.

Let us know how it goes with your RS Pres and what she is like. Hopefully the presidency meetings don’t make you want to jab a pencil in your temple.

I hope it is an example of inspiration.

I know I would love to have you in any RS Presidency in any ward I or my kids attend.

Unrelated to this calling, I was asked to attend Ward Council on Sunday, and I was impressed by a few things:

    1) there was a lot of mindfulness to be sure the girls are getting equal recognition with the boys for advancement. Even the ward clerk (who I know voted for Trump) pointed out that the church doesn’t even put out a certificate for the girls to advance like it does for the boys, and so we should make our own.

    2) several of the old dudes surprised me by being somewhat online tech savvy. (Others who were even younger surprised me by their rabid hatred of all things online, like they were getting righteous points for avoiding facebook).

    3) the bishop’s really opinionated, but people were pretty willing to speak up about things they don’t like such as being voluntold about the cleaning schedule.

Most of my compliments are for the people who came in with me from our old ward in the split. This new ward is going to have to be dragged along kicking and screaming in some cases, but they are making headway, and these people are speaking up. That was encouraging for me to see.

Maybe I got this calling so I won’t go inactive. Of course, I’m gone the last two weeks this month, so I am still inactive-ish anyway.
