GuestI wondered if folks here saw this between-sessions video. I hope my link works.
If anyone is interested in more about the Baptist minister who loves the BoM message, his site is:

GuestI watched a few minutes of it but I don’t have time to watch the entire clip tonight. The message is interesting: The Book of Mormon can no longer be ignored. I thought it was interesting that one women said that literary theorists say the BOM is one of the most fascinating books ever written. I hadn’t heard that before. What did you think of the clip, Ann? October 8, 2014 at 4:11 am #290316Anonymous
GuestI’ve lost my conviction that the Book of Mormon came into being in the way I was taught, so I need a personal “new day.” It was helpful to me to hear others talk about it. October 8, 2014 at 12:25 pm #290317Anonymous
GuestA couple of things. The BofM we read today is much different than what was originally published. The wording and language had a different feel to it. Although the stories are basically the same the flow of the wording is not always the same. So if you are going to make claims about the book you should use the original Second I think the BoM has many great teachings and stories. I use to love to read about some of the characters. Captain Moroni was a favorite. But there are many many great books that have wonderful messages, yet they do not claim to be divine.

GuestThere is much I love about the Book of Mormon however faith transitions have moved me farther from the book. I just can’t read it right now. I use biblical scripture right now. I even taken to leaving my Book of Mormon on my office shelf when I go to church. When the meetings get too much, I whip out the New Testament and read. October 9, 2014 at 10:17 pm #290319Anonymous
GuestIn at least two places, the primary purpose of the Book of Mormon is stated as being to convince people to believe the Bible (and to convince people that Jesus is the Christ). mom3, maybe if you are focused on the Bible right now, the Book of Mormon has done for you what it was intended primarily to do. Maybe you’ve used it the way it was meant to be used.
Just something to consider.

For the next few weeks I will be recovering from surgery, it may be the perfect time to sink into the Bible and enjoy it’s bounty.

GuestFwiw, I see that someone clipped out the Lynn Ridenhour portion from “New Day….” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ldu4XnQOP08 I don’t (at least right now) believe anyone from the Book of Mormon exists in reality, except for Christ. I wish that felt good enough in our culture, but I know it isn’t and that I’m an alien at church and in my family. I like to think that that will change. Who will do the changing? I have no idea.
mom3, best wishes!
