I sent a PM to “Elder_bevan” explaining our mission here and why I deleted his introduction and initial comment on one thread.

In a nutshell, he is a full-time missionary, and part of his mission is to establish a blog where he can share his testimony with others. He provided a link to it in his intro and comment – and his comment included a very straightforward, traditional testimony of the Book of Mormon. (Basically, “read, ponder and pray and you also can know that it is true.”) He ended with a request to link to his blog so that it would be more public.

I thanked him for his sincere effort to share the Gospel, then I explained in more detail what we do here and the type of person who participates – and why what he is doing is a different way to go about the Lord’s work. I gave him a quick personal bio and mentioned my own missionary son, just so he would understand me and my message better.

I have no idea if he will be back to even read the PM – or if his post and comment simply were to try to drive traffic to his blog.

More than anything else, I just want all of you to be aware of this possibility – that other online missionaries might find this site and try to contribute. If they do so in a way that is consistent with our mission, I am totally fine with that; if not, I would like to be the one to address it with them – since I can speak as a current High Councilor (as much as that shouldn’t matter) who has a son serving a mission.

    Is everyone OK with that?

100% in sync with my thinking too, including you being the primary liaison to that demographic.

I sincerely appreciate his desire to contribute and serve God by promoting faith, but it still has to fit into our site mission and how we serve people in our target niche.

I’m cool with your approach Ray.
