Just curious if it would be a good idea to look for another hand to help out. I’m short on time these days, and I’m guessing Ray is about to be. I think HiJolly might be good if he’s willing. Do you guys know him from other places?
Side topic, does anyone know if something happened to Tom Haws? (Not for a Moderator, I just haven’t seen him around & he used to be so regular.)
I think HiJolly would be good, but his time availability is spotty, as well – especially at certain times. I thought right from the start that Tom was a little . . . flaky, maybe. I really like him, but there was something that just seemed a bit “off” to me. I don’t know what’s going on with him.
My overall blogging time will drop even further in about two weeks, but this is the one group forum that I am dedicated to first. Mormon Matters is second.
Oh, Ray, you love to threaten but “every time you think you’re out, we pull you back in. . .” I agree about Tom Haws. He seemed a little unstable to me and not really settled yet.
On HiJolly, I like him fine. He seems OK to me, but I’d like to know who he really is. The rest of us know each other from elsewhere. Who is he behind the avatar? He seems like a reconciled Stage 5 believer type. Is that accurate? Or is he just a more open-minded intellectual Stage 3 type?
I know more about HiJolly than anyone else, I’m sure. He’s legit, and his current situation doesn’t allow him to identify himself in any other way. I understand and appreciate that. He’s cool – just unavailable at times. So what do you think about trying to find someone else to bring in? Should we just keep it in the back of our minds? I’ll take Ray’s recommendation on just about anything. I say go ahead and add him. We’ve got to get some help with deleting the porn posts from somewhere! Also, I’m on vacation for the next 8 days, folks. I will probably not check in much if at all. Trying to get my last licks in before I go. I really do feel as though we are doing good work here.
Hawk, what about some of the newer posters on Mormon Matters like Mormon Heretic and Faithful Dissident? I’d love to have Andrew Ainsworth here, but I’m not sure he has the time. I agree about both MoHer and FaiDiss. Do you want to ask them? I’m leaving for Maui in 8 hours. I’ll do it. Obviously, given her introduction, Faithful Dissident checked out the forum and really liked it. I figure we should give it a week and then I’ll talk with her about becoming an admin. HiJolly responded as I thought he would – that he is very flattered and honored, but that he just doesn’t have the time to take on that role. He mentioned trying to do it elsewhere once and feeling like a failure due to his time constraints. I told him it is cool. It is a good idea to have more people here to help. I am still spending what time I can here, when i have time. I don’t want to bother people these days with more hard stories and stress, but my life has been totally turned upside down since being laid off. We’ve been hyper focused on survival and trying not to end up homeless. So … I haven’t had as much time and energy to put into helping others on the internet lately. I’m sure that will turn around in the future, soon… sooner would be nice [Valoel looks up in the sky and addresses the universe]. It is what it is though.

What Orson said. Take care of your family. I’m about to be able to breathe, although I don’t know if we will be able to sell our house – and I really don’t want to face that possibility, but . . . you do what you can and let go of what you can’t.
