Ok a little more expanded version of my thoughts.

1) Modesty should not be dictated solely on the basis of members of the opposite gender in the vicinity. I feel this plays into the idea that what we wear is all about protecting that gender from sexual temptation / impure thoughts.

2) I imagine that the YW leadership see this as an opportunity to model modesty standards at a time when they actually have the power/leverage to enforce them.

3) Ultimately I see ideal “modesty” as wearing clothing that is appropriate for the activity, climate, and culture. All three should be considered in deciding what to wear. What should I wear swimming vs. to a wedding vs. to the north pole?
