Guest“Noband” joined with an explanation (upfront) that said he would like to link in the Books and Media Review section to a book he has written. I sent him a PM telling him that we do not allow that – that he is welcome to participate as a regular member, but that we will delete any posts or comments that are commercial in nature or content. In a related note, I think we need to start monitoring bridget’s constant references to her book about homosexuality. I don’t think she has linked it for a long time, and I’m not sure she has crossed any lines lately, but we ought to keep the “no commercial pitches” rule in mind with her, as well.

GuestThis is noband’s response to my PM: Quote:Ray,
Thanks for the info. Actually, I’m not trying to sell my book, but have decided to give the book away for free online. I was hoping to post a link to the site, where anyone can read for free and discuss as desired. If you would like to check it out first the link is
http://www.youngprophetssociety.com . I will wait for your reply before I post.Thanks,
Steve
Any thoughts? Honestly, I haven’t looked at the link – and I am wary of allowing it here.June 29, 2010 at 6:01 am #232595Anonymous
GuestI checked it out briefly, it doesn’t seem controversial or anything, but not much to it either. It certainly doesn’t seem to be about reconciling faith or coping with a crisis. It is just a fictional story that I don’t think we want any part of. I suggest we stay consistent and not allow a reference to the online book. I understand he is not selling it, but it isn’t aligned with our mission, IMO.

GuestI approved his registration. He sent me an email about it. He is giving the book away at this point. I told him of the general rule we have about not endorsing or advertising products. Lets play it by ear. June 29, 2010 at 2:21 pm #232597Anonymous
GuestI am fine with that, Brian. I’m not sure how much he will participate outside of his book focus, which really is the kicker for me. He isn’t commenting regularly, so I’m not certain he’s here for the purpose of the site.
