I think it’s fair to question or even criticize Joseph Smith for marrying 14 year olds behind his wife’s back. That’s not just wrong by 2015 standards, that was also wrong by 1830s standards.
That was beginning of the end for Joesph. It pretty much led up to Nauvoo Expositor and then his death. I think Joesph Smith did a lot of great things, but we can’t just ignore the wrongs he was doing.

GuestI wish one of these days the “signal from the conductor” would involve jazz hands. Loving the music for PH session. Best music so far. My husband thinks it’s weird that I’m singing along.
DFU talking about Daniel having to work on his testimony is a nice contrast to the “faith is a choice” sentiment that we’ve heard at least twice so far. It’s not as easy as “just believe.” Anyway, I like what President U is saying about Daniel – and we’re always hearing about how wicked the world is NOW.

GuestOh man. Priesthood session is a riot without being super negative. Uchtdorf is hip with those kids these day when he puts “Flamed” in his talk. October 4, 2015 at 1:10 am #304574Anonymous
GuestPres. Eyring’s story about the Elders Quorum President is wonderful for a lot of reasons – not least of which was his statement that the EQP was sitting at the back of the chapel “dressed casually”. October 4, 2015 at 1:32 am #304575Anonymous
GuestI went downstairs to start the dough for tomorrow’s cinnamon rolls. I could tell when TSM had started talking just by his trademark cadence. October 4, 2015 at 1:39 am #304576Anonymous
GuestUgh, I hate this song. Also, I thought that we had given up the idea that today’s youth had somehow been saved for the latter days. I know that was really big in the 80s and 90s.

Who else will be there to preach the gospel to the Klingons or Romulans or Vulcans, or (Shudder) the Ferengi? Someone needs to take the gospel to the real aliens. Not the Mexicans or others, but aliens from other planets.

GuestSigh. Elder Andersen should be sealed to JS as a spiritual husband and get it over with.
Nearly went an entire conference with no JS adulation. This close.
DFU hasn’t really reached me this conference, in fact no one has. It’s all good.

Me either. I did miss most of the Saturday morning session, tough. They’re on Youtube already, though – any worth watching?

GuestOrdinarily I quite like Elder Uchtdorf’s remarks, but I felt belittled tonight. The tirade against skeptical thinking was a real downer. Best line of the evening goes to Anderson for “Just give Joseph a break”. I don’t get it. Joseph and the book of Mormon are the cornerstone of the church, but no is supposed to look too closely? GuestThis is an aside, and I know anything is possible at his age, but tonight I’d describe Pres. Monson as in good health and spirits. October 4, 2015 at 1:22 pm #304582Anonymous
GuestI didn’t find the priesthood session particularly inspiring. It was nice to hear from President Monson finally though I wouldn’t say that it was one of his better talks. Despite rumors of dementia, he seemed to do fairly well for a man nearing 90. The other sessions were fine (but nothing out of the ordinary). Elder Andersen’s plea to “give Joseph a break” may appeal to the general population of Mormons but will do nothing for those currently struggling with their faith. Of course, many of those will not be watching anyway. October 4, 2015 at 1:41 pm #304583Anonymous
GuestI think I’m just in a cynical mood this weekend and none of the talks have penetrated that. I particularly felt sarcastic during Elder Hales talk for the youth. I did miss an entire hour of the Saturday afternoon session and didn’t mind at all. It’s been a meh  session so far. Hopefully today goes better.October 4, 2015 at 4:09 pm #304589Anonymous
GuestLove the opening hymn. “If the Savior stood Beside Me.” October 4, 2015 at 4:12 pm #304590Anonymous
GuestI expected President Uchtdorf to say “today next we will hear from 3 Nephites.” -
