I’m in.

GuestI have a raging cold today. Words are making no sense, but I love Elder Eyring’s voice. October 4, 2015 at 5:43 pm #304618Anonymous
GuestI love this tribute to Pres. Eyring’s parents. I love any tribute to a “regular person”.
I know not everyone experiences things like his father did, but I also appreciate those who do and their stories.

I didn’t want this post to go unnoticed…mom3…[emoji4] …that made me laugh.October 4, 2015 at 5:52 pm #304620Anonymous
GuestI always loved that rendition, the one where the lone voice is joined by others until the whole choir is involved. I’d love to see them invite the congregation to sing the last verse. October 4, 2015 at 5:53 pm #304621Anonymous
GuestHenry Eyring was COOL. Maybe I’m biased because I’m a chemist too

GuestJoni, one of my daughters is considering Chemistry as her college major. October 4, 2015 at 6:06 pm #304623Anonymous

We talk a LOT about the importance of marriage but there’s little practical talk about HOW.
I am a full and equal partner in my/our marriage. I think it is mostly about respect. DH respects my abilities and capabilites. We work hard to make each other happy, content, and cared for. We both work. Some years I make more, some years he does. We both parent. We both do laundry and dishes. I’m better at fixing mechanical stuff — house stuff and cars. He is better with computer software and hardware issues. We just split everything up according to who likes to do what. We never question each other’s financial choices, there is just a lot of trust on both sides.
When I was a SAHM, things are pretty much the same. I did more household stuff .. But I was home .. It just made sense that I built the fence, mowed, had a bigger role in childcare. The relationship still felt equal .. Never presiding/harkening.

GuestI think if they stopped preaching about the presidential role of the husband in the home that would help. It’s a contradiction in terms to have one person designated as “presiding” while saying others are equal partners. the president is the final authority on things — Presiding is great for church roles, but in the family, I think it’s over-reaching to designate who presides in the home. And in many homes, like my father-in-laws’, he doesn’t preside. His wife does. All he does is choose who should say the prayer. So, giving him that title doesn’t mean a thing really.

GuestThis might be the most Rameumpton-like, tribute prayer I have ever heard at GC. I have never had such a negative reaction to a GC prayer. October 4, 2015 at 8:26 pm #304626Anonymous
GuestI usually like Elder Christofferson, but today I am going to give it a pass. Even when I was TBM, I was never a good member missionary, now in faith transition I am going to be even less a better missionary. October 4, 2015 at 8:28 pm #304627Anonymous

I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like the prayer. I was listening to it going….
. It was definitely weird.

Guest“Ponderize” is a perfectly cromulent word 😆 …and yes, that was a weird prayer. There are plenty of sermon-prayers in GC, but that one actually made me uncomfortable.

GuestI can’t do this talk.. Ponderizing? Let’s make up words shall we. I think TBM’s will enjoy this talk but I don’t like the made up word among other things. -
