Okay I give him credit for thanking those who don’t serve in traditional ways. He should have started with it. Service I can get behind, to me that is Christlike.

On my snark side – sure I will take that Gospel Doctrine calling and we will do it my way. I am with you Nibbler.

I was wondering if one of the n00bs was going to give a talk.

And it’s another FC talk. What’s that, the 4th or 5th one?

Oh cringe – Faith Crisis. I am sick already. Worse yet the following popped up on my ward face book feed.

    Quote:

I truly believe that the last talk from Carl B. Cook was for the Ward.

    This is not my day.

Unlike Ballard’s talk, this faith crisis talk seems to be equating FC with unfaithfulness.

I don’t want to be on the edge either. I would love to give this back.

I remember many good times but seriously that doesn’t fix it. And how long does one pound on Heaven’s door before your fist is a bloody pulp? Okay, stepping away.

He is sincere, but this is an over-simplification. I get it, but it won’t do anything for anyone here, I think. Most here probably will want to skip it.

I would love to hear a talk about Faith Crisis from someone who has experienced one.

(For what it’s worth – I don’t refer to my experience as a ‘crisis.’ It may seem like one from the outside, but it’s not.)

It would have been wonderful if Pres. Uchtdorf’s talk about David could have been the word on the topic.

Oh, well, it is what it is – and, at least, it shows they understand the severity of the issue and are talking about it.

Renlund quoting C. S. Lewis made me realize we haven’t had a CSL quote in conference for ages! :D

I get what you are saying Ray but I would change the wording to say “they get that some severe issue is happening.” I don’t think “they” understand. I have come to believe that those who never experience this really have no understanding. Its like men who have never delivered a baby giving advice to a woman in labor. I think a few have more compassion or are trying to get to a compassionate spot, but the majority still think it’s a choice and we just need to work harder.

For the record I do appreciate Elder Ballard and Elder Uchtdorf’s efforts in this area.

Good rewording, mom3. It says what I meant better than I said it.

    Tongue-in-cheek post.

I did it! I listened to all sessions of conference and stayed awake for all talks. Summed up in one meme:

My favorite words “Then this conference will stand adjourned.”

In the desire to find good I will stay Elder Hales, Elder Ballard, Elder Uchtdorf worked for me.

    Nice meme Nibbler.

This is a real question for me. I wonder if I’ve become hardened and am in error. But then I remind myself how much happier I am post-scrupulosity. I honestly don’t understand freighting everything with sin requiring repentance. I feel like today’s speakers ramped up the guilt til the end.

I understand the firecracker incident as one requiring only: I’m very sorry I did that. I won’t do it again. Not one that rides a roller coaster of emotion from great depths to highest heights.
