GuestThis is why I don’t understand the Church’s policies and cutlure wrt exmos and LGBTQs. It feels like it runs contrary to the gospel described in Elder Cornish’s talk. October 1, 2016 at 5:30 pm #314888Anonymous
GuestI like that the only rebellion he mentioned is against God. He mentioned no other “rebellion”. October 1, 2016 at 5:33 pm #314889Anonymous
Guest“Take Time To Be Holy” is a tune I love and know as, “Be Thou My Vision.” October 1, 2016 at 5:37 pm #314890Anonymous
Guest‘Take Time To Be Holy’ is such a lovely song. I wish it was in the hymn book. Much like ‘Come Thou Font,’ I like the old school hymns with really simple tunes. October 1, 2016 at 5:39 pm #314891Anonymous
GuestTraditional talk, but I like the reference to the Church numbers always being small. I wish more members would accept that statement. October 1, 2016 at 5:45 pm #314892Anonymous
GuestAnderson – “Guilt is like a battery in a gasoline-powered car …. The battery is not sufficient, and neither is guilt.”

GuestMy husband just asked me why I haven’t been providing commentary on the conference talks. Umm, because I’m not stupid, is why.

GuestSharing our love of the Savior is not a pass/fail test. I like that. October 1, 2016 at 5:50 pm #314895Anonymous
GuestOverall, this has been an excellent session, with at least two wonderful talks – and significantly more good and better talks than bad and worse ones. October 1, 2016 at 5:50 pm #314896Anonymous

Doing missionary work is like a hybrid car…
 And he wins for the “tmeax” heard round the world.

Because he’s half asleep, is how.

Guest“Sweet Hour of Prayer” as postlude. Pray on. Radiate the light of the gospel. Weary not.

Old Timer wrote:Joni, there has to be at least one. I accept that as axiomatic. It’s an orthodox talk for the orthodox members. It’s cool.
Yes and an acknowledgement of people saying bad things about Joseph and how they are wrong but we won’t say how seems to be an element of every such talk now. Speak your peace about Joseph, tell everyone how great you think he is, but please refrain from aligning orthodox members of the church against family members that speak their truth.
No one is a Judas this time though. Baby steps.

All my specific concerns get dismissed with the vague, general idea that Joseph, like me, wasn’t perfect.Quote:Speak your peace about Joseph, tell everyone how great you think he is,

So
thisspeaker didn’t refrain, but the one who said Judas did. It’s individual baby steps? October 1, 2016 at 7:55 pm #314899Anonymous
GuestYes, perhaps it is individual baby steps – but let’s not forget the publication of the Jospeh Smith Papers and the Council of Fifty minutes. It’s not all baby steps – and the Church as an organization has taken and is taking large steps in some important areas. It still isn’t the massive steps many (and most, if not all, here) want, but they are large steps nonetheless.
