GuestOne of my favorite scriptures says simply: Quote:Be still, and know that I am God.
I don’t know who said the following first, but I really like the principle it teaches:
Quote:You can chase a butterfly all over the field and never catch it, but if you sit quietly in the grass it will come to you and sit on your shoulder.
Sometimes, we really do need to quit chasing the things we wish to capture and let them come to us and rest with us.

GuestAsk Mormon Girl has an interesting post on this subject over on MM now. My wife and I were just called to a YSA branch and it is very different to be in such a quiet meeting. July 19, 2010 at 10:00 pm #233469Anonymous
GuestThat’s a nice thought, and valuable to ponder. Thanks Ray! July 19, 2010 at 11:21 pm #233470Anonymous
GuestThis is ringing with true meaning to me right now. As I said I got fired from a part-time job — not because I wasn’t good at it, but because I took on a project, reporting to the part-time boss…..and I was chasing so many other things I got truly burned out and couldn’t complete the project — asked for resignation from the project. Got fired from the part-time job as a result. As I reflected on the need to replace the lost income, I decided just to do my full-time job and let life come for a while. Letting go of the quest for money may well be therapeutic — just to do a good job on the basic things and keep life simple for a while…..there’s a sense of peace in that.
I’m thinking of going away for a few days, alone, without family, to a quiet resort and just taking the time to unwind, regroup, reformat my mission statement, etcetera, around a new set of values. With no other priorities or pressures. I hope to find peace.

GuestI’ve mentioned it before, and I’ll mention it again, some of you folk need to try meditation… July 20, 2010 at 3:01 pm #233472Anonymous
GuestSam, that’s what this subject brings to my mind also. Normally, our minds are running around so fast, we are hardly aware of where and when and who we are. It’s a real blessing to learn how to stop.
Stop.
Do.
Nothing.
And.
Be.
I am.

GuestEven five or ten minutes just sitting can do wonders. Don’t think of anything, but just let things come and go. It’s hard the first time you do it, but that’s the point, you find out what’s lying in there. -
