Lets say to make it simple Walmart has everything you good ever need in their store. ( Almost
) It has all of the right things you need to survive clothes, drink, food … etc. However, even though Walmart has everything if you want the best of the best of a certain item you should find a speciality store instead. They have plenty of people working for them and their customer service is there but it isn’t too pretty … But the waitress downtown at your favorite lunch spot treats you like family and you feel better being around her. WalMart might be the one true store for some and not for others .. for many different reasons. Don’t know where I’m going wih this but in short …. Sometimes you just want to go and get it all done at WalMart even if the service is so/so and the product isn’t as good as it could be.
THEN AGAIN sometimes you don’t want to go through ALL the trouble of parking … Tons of people .. long lines … And decide to just brake it down into seperate trips.
The all true line … just doesnt jive with me now, but I can see why people think that way ( Well not really, but I try )

LOL! Love it! Shop at WalMart, but supplement with Trader Joe’s.June 3, 2009 at 11:59 pm #217602Anonymous

GuestMy wife is also an SJ (funny how that works huh). I suppose it is the SJ’s that help keep the NTs inline (I’m an ENTJ/INTJ if I haven’t mentioned that yet). Or maybe they’re the only ones that can tolerate us. Or maybe, more likely, there are simply more SJs. I like the Walmart analogy.

GuestThe world would fall apart if there weren’t so many SJs. It certainly would fall to pieces if I had to run it. June 9, 2009 at 2:32 pm #217606Anonymous
GuestTwo quick comments on this topic: 1. It seems for some reason that the “one true church” concept is an integral and functional part of our mormon mythology. We have to be “the one” for some reason. I think it helps people within our church deal with the whackiness of it all sometimes. We have a burning need to be a “peculiar” people. Authority and the “one true church” idea is just part of the mormon experience.
2. I personally choose to interpret this from a slightly different angle. Joseph Smith (and other church founders) taught that truth is paramount. The Gospel of Christ that we follow, that our church is developing, contains all truth. Like the 13th Article of Faith describes, we bring all truth into the circle of the Gospel, wherever and whenever we find it. That is how I have learned to become more comfortable with that statement. We aren’t currently a 100% factually “true” church, but we should be headed in that direction. If it is true, it should be a part of Mormonism. It should be at some point. I think it is a useful metaphor. Anyone who takes that as being superior, and putts down the beliefs of others, they really don’t get it though.

Thanks, I like your look on it. Your very last statement, unfortunately, is how quite a few members seem to view it as – at least in my experiences .. But Oh Well there loss .. ignorance is bliss , I guess. -
