GuestAre other wards having fast and testimony meeting on Easter Sunday? I’m very disappointed, but not surprized. It’s happened before. I anticipate a meeting low on message, meaning and music. If it doesn’t bother others, I’m interested in knowing why not. Maybe it will help me get un-peeved.

GuestIsn’t Easter on Sunday 31st March? It should be a sacrament program. I know our ward-choir has two ‘pieces’ in preparation cos I’m in the choir. Edit: just realised it’s Gen Conf the Sunday after so they have to shift F&T forward or backward. I’m not sure what ours is doing then.

GuestI hope F&T meeting is moved back a week, so we can have an Easter service on Easter. March 12, 2013 at 3:33 pm #266969Anonymous

GuestEaster Sunday is March 31 this year, so it would be unusual to have F&T meeting THIS year, but it does happen. I would hope that the F&T would be moved on those occasions, but if it is not, the one thing I would say that would make it OK is that at least testimonies should revolve more around worship and gratitude of the Savior; something I wouldn’t mind hearing every F&T. GuestOur ward is having F&T meeting as well. I don’t mind since it’s my month to conduct sacrament meeting. I’d much rather bear my testimony than find people to give talks. As I finish my testimony and turn things over to the congregation, I’ll of suggest in my not-so-subtle way that since it’s Easter it would be great to have testimonies focused on the Savior.

Guest“When Followers fails to incorporate fundamental precepts into built form, they are likely to perpetuate previous manifestations.”– Now you may think that a joke, but take a minute….. sit back…. and ponder that and you will find it to be a deep truth!

GuestNot sure what out ward is doing. But the haglers are still planning on the annual Saturday Easter feast followed by huge egg and candy hunt and water egg fight. Easter is awesome….I do wish bunnies still layed eggs though….wonder why they stopped? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2

GuestJust the other day I received an email from someone in the Primary Presidency, I’ve c/p it ……”The other item is Easter Sunday, March 31st. Junior primary should be teaching Lesson #46 called “Jesus Christ Made it Possible…” The Senior Primary does not have an Easter lesson so your options are to teach the one on the schedule or you can see one of the presidency and we will get you an Easter lesson you can teach. We just wanted to give you that option.”Just wondering why an Easter Lesson isn’t provided in the Senior Primary Lesson Manual? Any ideas? Although I’m definitely giving my ward’s Primary Presidency kudos for being aware of it and offering solutions!

The senior primary follow a schedule like the adults. Given Easter moves around they can’t schedule it in a manual that is fixed. But I agree it’s cool your presidency was flexible.

GuestSo ours ended up being two choir items, a primary song, a soloist and talks on Easter. I also overheard a slightly confused member of the primary pres telling her husband that after asking ‘why do we have Easter?’ my daughter put up her hand and said ‘well, originally it was a pagan festival that Christians tried to replace.’ I smiled and told the leader this was true and that’s where the eggs and bunnies come from. It was a pagan fertility festival. A celebration of new life. Which in some ways is appropriate for Easter.
I’m not even sure where my 10yo daughter got this info from. But I’m a little bit proud of her.
We still celebrate Easter, but the kids also know that other religions have reason to celebrate this time of year.
