GuestI had an interesting experience that definitely told me our leaders can be wrong. We moved into this new stake and ward 5 years ago—and I felt like I had changed religions–it was so different. I had a particular thing that was bothering me–I had even looked it up in the handbook. I asked my stake president about it–he had seen something different in another part of the handbook that I had never seen—I aasked him if he had looked specifically at the part I was talking about. He told me I had given him a challenge, and that he had to teach on the handbook, so he was going to look it up. The next month, I asked him what he had found out. He told me that I had been right, and that he had apologized to the people he was teaching because they had been teaching them wrong. I appreciated his honesty and humility in listening to me, looking it up, and admitting they had made a mistake.
What if I had never dared to question?

Guestmom3—thanks—a lot of people would see it as a bad thing to question one’s leaders—I’m beginning to see it as a necessary part of learning and growing in the gospel, especially when something really bothers you—and it is wonderful to have humble leaders who can admit they were mistaken. It raised your respect for them. February 3, 2013 at 6:15 pm #260789Anonymous
