GuestIs anyone getting the sense that even organizations like Fox News are giving up on Trump? I don’t watch Fox a lot, I sometimes catch Shepard Smith’s afternoon broadcast – and he seems pretty much convinced of the idea Trump can’t win. I’m not crying, I feel the same way, but I really still don’t know how to vote. FWIW I did vote for Bill both times, but BHO neither time, and the second Bush only once. Yes…to save face, they are separating now to make it clearIt still amazes me how bad Clinton is to keep it from being a landslide. Despite her best efforts…she will still win. Trump is that bad.

GuestTrump scares and disgusts me, but the worst is the supporters who are defending what he said about sexually assauling women just because he can – the idea that he is being persecuted simply for the explicit language he used. I don’t get how people can think like that. I even read comments in a thread about what Elizabeth Smart said about it (amazing statement) that expressed condolences to her but said she was over-reacting because her situation was so bad.
Sometimes the ignorant gonna ignorant, but . . .

GuestI agree, Ray. There are also times when I think there are so many distractions. I can’t really say it or I feel bad about myself for saying it…but some of the stuff about Trump being disrespectful to women is irrelevant to political issues of the country.
The problem is…to vote for him and support him just makes a person seem like they are agreeing or approving of that behavior.
To me, comments made 10 years ago about what Trump said on a bus that reveals he is total jerk to women is just not as big of an issue as fiscal policy in this country. In the grand scheme of things, most of those politicians get to where they are by stepping on people as they go.
Even still…I tried to see if Trump could shut his pie hole long enough to be an option…but he didn’t, and he has lost the election by being too stupid to know how the play the political game that all the other scumbags in washington play.
It doesn’t make Hillary’s policies any better. It just means we have no alternative.
I wish it could be more focused on policies, but am not naive to know that character and image is a part of the job. Trump is the worst. I cannot vote for him.

GuestIn case you all didn’t notice, the sun still rose this morning. Polls indicate it will continue to rise each morning for the foreseeable future. November 9, 2016 at 5:01 pm #313515Anonymous

 The world turns, nature flows still…it is people that are reacting out of fear that are changing things…like the stock market.

GuestI am taking a wait and see approach. Maybe he will try to govern from his more natural, moderate position – but he also might kowtow to the Pence crowd. We will see.

I agree with Hillary. Give him a chance.

GuestI don’t think I really understood what fear mongering was until now. November 10, 2016 at 10:14 pm #313519Anonymous
GuestIf he chooses Giuliani and Palin for his cabinet, I don’t know if I can “wait and see”. Those two are as close to unhinged and . . . twisted . . . as I have seen. I seriously wondered during Thebes’s campaign of Giuliani was developing paranoia or something. At times, he was simply frightening. December 1, 2016 at 1:10 am #313520Anonymous
Guest Romney enjoying his funeral potato (singular).
We might want to keep an eye on the political thread. Recently it has headed towards [paraphrase] at least Obama wasn’t a racist, which isn’t going to help healing.

GuestYeah, my caption for that Romney photo is that Mitt seems to be thinking “Looks like I just got my p****y grabbed.” Trump has completely humiliated him to get him to grovel for the Secretary of State position. It’s really beyond the pale. Trump is a man with tiny, tiny hands, and a smallness of character to match. December 1, 2016 at 5:35 pm #313522Anonymous
GuestIt makes me think Romney has less character than I thought, if he now bows to the bully and is willing to suck up to him to get a job. I mean…Romney made the point to come out and try to say how unfit Trump is for President…and then turns to be his secretary? What a wild ride it all is.
My guess is that Romney thinks it better to be on this inside to help change and to advise and perhaps keep Trump from making huge mistakes, than to be on the outside and wash his hands of it. But still…it makes Romney look weak.
But the strange thing is…it makes me think maybe I need to give Trump more credit than I thought. He doesn’t seem to be after GroupThink. I keep thinking that I like the idea of getting really good cabinet members … but can’t stop thinking about all the racist and bigoted things Trump said. Are we to just forget that he is that way at the core?
Is there any hope that good advisors can write Trump speeches and if he can stay on script…he can actually represent conservatives well???
Very puzzling. And I don’t think “CNN Experts” know anything more of what is going on than any of the rest of us.

How often does a president reach across the isles and appoint people from the other party to cabinet positions because they are the best people for the job?
Edit: Here’s a list:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_political_appointments_across_party_lines ” class=”bbcode_url”> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_political_appointments_across_party_lines Obviously the appointments aren’t final but how is Trump showing that he’s avoiding group think?
