GuestI know everyone is busy and involved in writing at other sites, but I would like to see the moderators and admins write occasional posts here, as well. I think there can be great benefit to others in being able to read things written by each of you. It would make this site more of a hybrid between what it is now and what a forum like Mormon Matters is. I forget who said it, but someone mentioned in a thread wishing there was more new content on a regular basis – content that isn’t only responses to new members and “issues” but focused instead on proactive “solutions”.

GuestSounds fair enough. I will try to contribute some thoughts. June 1, 2010 at 3:52 am #231589Anonymous
GuestThanks for the note Ray. I should post more often here, but I will say that I’m having a hard time keeping up with my 3 main websites (MH, MM and here). I’ll see if perhaps I can recycle some stuff here that may be helpful here. One of the problems for me is the fact that I can go into so much detail on my blog. I try to cut it down for MM, but even that can be too long for here. Should I stay mostly faith promoting here, or is it ok to open up a can of worms (such as Spalding Theory, Priesthood ban, etc)?

GuestThe main difference here is that we are focusing on discussing and finding solutions and coping mechanisms. That necessitates a different approach – not just “faith promoting”, per se, but focused on things that will help people find peace. I am copying my weekly resolutions posts here primarily because they deal with charity – and I believe developing charity is an important part of dealing with questions, concerns and dissonance. I wouldnt’ suggest posting shortened versions of your BofM posts, for example, but I would have no objections to a post about how researching all the various geography theories has allowed you to recognize that the jury still can be out on the nature of the BofM – or something else that deals with how you reconcile competing views about the book.
A modified version of your OT genocide post might be appropriate, if it is focused on how you have moved from a literal to a figurative interpretation – or how these stories help you place the OT in the category of “stuff people used to think that shows how important theological evolution and continuing revelation is” – or any other practical result that brings a degree of peace with regard to that topic.
Make sense?

GuestExcellent suggestion. I’ll start thinking about posts. June 2, 2010 at 6:12 am #231592Anonymous
GuestYes Ray, that makes sense. Since the semester just started, I’m trying to keep my head above water time wise, but I’ll try to post some more topics here when I can eke out some more time. November 13, 2010 at 7:35 am #231593Anonymous
GuestWanted to bump this one up – just to reiterate what I said in the original post. -
